NeNe Leakes has opened up about her emotional journey as her husband, Gregg Leakes is going through a major health battle.
On Saturday, August 29, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star revealed to the crowd at her venue, The Linnethia Lounge in Duluth, Ga. that her husband, Gregg, is almost at the end of his cancer battle.
NeNe Leakes Talks About Gregg Leakes’ Health
NeNe revealed the state of Gregg’s health when an attendee at her venue was upset that she didn’t wish them a happy birthday, as seen on the video shared by It’s OnSite.
“Give us a lot of love, OK? My husband is transitioning to the other side,” the reality star said to the crowd. “People approach and say, ‘You’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday.’ My husband is at home, dying.”

NeNe then said, “You see my son right here—he’s hurting. I’m hurting.”
“Sometimes you don’t know what people are dealing with and what people are going through, OK? My husband is not going to be here in the next couple of days, OK?”
Gregg Leakes was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2018. In 2019, NeNe announced that Gregg was finally “cancer free,” but it returned. In June 2021, NeNe shared that Gregg was undergoing surgery.

Gregg Leakes was born Gregory Leon Leakes on August 18, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a self-taught businessman who has contributed as a real estate investor and consultant.
He started appearing on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” after his wife, NeNe, joined the show in 2008. Gregg appeared on more than 40 episodes of the reality show until NeNe left the cast in 2020.
In 2017, Gregg and Nene also joined the competition on “MasterChef Celebrity Showdown,” where they lost to Trai Byers and Grace Gealey in the tag team challenge.
