Gregg Leakes, Husband of RHOA Star NeNe Leakes, has Passed Away at the Age of 66

Gregg Leakes, husband of NeNe Leakes, has passed away at the age of 66 after a long battle with colon cancer.

On Wednesday, the family’s publicist and friend, Ernest Dukes, released a statement that Gregg, who appeared on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, with his wife, had died “peacefully” in his home.

“Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes,” the statement read. “We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time.”

It wasn’t long before the Real Housewives family expressed their grief and support for the loss of Nene and her family, including Andy Cohen.

Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen took to Twitter to pay tribute to Gregg Leakes on Wednesday.

“I am heartbroken over the passing of Gregg Leakes, a wonderful man,” Andy said. “I joking called him “Pastor Leakes” but in truth he was a strong voice of reason & commanded great respect among the entire #RHOA team. I am sending love and strength to @neneleakes & the entire Leakes family”

NeNe’s former RHOA co-stars came up to honor and remember Gregg on social media, as Porsha Williams shared a photo of NeNe with Gregg on her Instagram, with the caption, “Truly heartbreaking news. Love and prayers for dear Nene & the Leakes family #Speechless We love you Greg.”

Shereé Whitfield wrote on Twitter, “My heart and prayers are with the Leakes family during their time of loss. Greg Leakes was a kind and gentle soul and he will truly be missed by many. May the family find peace and comfort during this difficult time.”

Kim Zolciak-Biermann posted two pictures on her Instagram Story: one of her with Gregg and the other of him with her husband, Kroy Biermann.

“Always the voice of reason,” she wrote on the first picture. “Sending you all my love to @neneleakes and your family.”

Just a few days ago, NeNe Leakes had addressed the deteriorating health of Gregg in a video spreading on social media, telling the crowd of The Linnethia Lounge in Duluth, Georgia, “My husband is transitioning to the other side.”

Gregg had been battling Stage 3 colon cancer ever since he was diagnosed in 2018. While he went into remission in 2019, the cancer soon returned. After that, it was in June 2021 when NeNe shared that Gregg was undergoing surgery.

Gregg left behind his wife, NeNe Leakes, and seven children, including his son with Nene, his children from a previous relationship, and his stepson.

He fathered five children before meeting NeNe, four sons and one daughter: Daryl, Damian, Dexter, Denton, and Katrina.

He was also father to Brentt, his son with NeNe, and Bryson Bryant, his stepson (NeNe’s son from a previous relationship).
