HGTV is back with a new renovation/competition series called “Battle on the Beach” with some fan favorites like Mike Holmes, Alison Victoria, Ty Pennington, and Mina Starsiak-Hawk alongside Food Network’s Taniya Nayak.
The guidance from the HGTV pros will help three teams of house flippers display their best game as they compete for a $50K prize surrounding a huge home-improvement showdown.
The series showcases teams Josh and Shonnie Thomas of Dallas Texas, Kerry and David Kersh of Comanche, Texas, and Darryl and Sunjay Williams of Atlanta, Georgia. They will be overhauling living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces to recreate “tired sand shacks into enviable beachfront bungalows.”

Josh Thomas' Bio
Josh Thomas, age 32, is a YouTuber, technician, raw lifestyle blogger alongside his wife, Shonnie.

Josh was born and raised in Cedar Hill, Texas, alongside his two siblings.
For his education, he attended Cedar Hill High School and went on to accept a scholarship with the University of Buffalo.
Josh played college football for the Buffalo Bulls team from 2007 to 2010, during which he appeared in 47 games, starting 34 of them.
After that, Josh headed to the professional path, as he got selected by the Dallas Cowboys.
Josh Thomas’ NFL Career
Josh was claimed by the Carolina Panthers in 2012, where he registered 24 tackles, seven special teams tackles, and seven passes defended. A year later, he registered 28 tackles, 4 special teams tackles, one interception and two passes defended.
In 2014, Josh was released by the team and signed into the Seattle Seahawks - he played three games for the team.

After that, he played for teams like Detroit Lions, New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings, and Indianapolis Colts.
It was in 2015 when he joined Dallas Cowboy. However, he was placed on the injuries reserve list less than a year later.
His NFL career was cut short due to injuries and free agency before he made the decision to build another career in real estate.
Josh Thomas and His Wife
Josh and his wife, Shonnie, have known each other for a very long time. The two were actually dating at college but went their different ways when Josh joined the NFL and Shonnie began to focus on her legal studies.
They later reunited during the time Josh was a winning cornerback with the Carolina Panthers, and Shonnie was a mother maintaining her career.
In 2016, Josh and Shonnie moved to Dallas for a new start.
